Tips to Prepare for an AC Installation Appointment

If you’re planning on upgrading your existing air conditioner, you may be wondering what to expect during the installation process. That is something our team can go over with you in detail as you make your decision about an installation.

In the meantime, you can keep reading to learn how you can prepare your home and family for the day of an air conditioner installation. After all, you can expect an air conditioning replacement in Milford, OH to be nearly an all-day project. You want to be prepared and know exactly what to expect.

Know the Plan

To be prepared, you need to know the plan for installation. When our team first visits your home to talk about your options for upgrading your existing air conditioner, we can review the installation process so you know what to expect. Keep in mind that an AC installation will be an all-day project.

First, we have to take out your old units – both inside and out. Then we have to make any upgrades that are necessary for your new air conditioner. This can mean adjusting the layout of ductwork, refreshing electrical lines, and even making repairs to the closet space or outdoor pad where your air conditioner will sit. After that, we can install your new unit, test it out, and then review with you how it works.

Create Space

Ahead of the installation, you want to make space for our team to work. We know that depending on the layout of your home, the location of your indoor AC unit may not be convenient. If you can move furniture and other items out of the way so our team has plenty of room to work, that will help us tremendously.

The same goes for the space around your outdoor unit. If you have furniture and yard ornaments that are in between the path of the gate into your backyard and the outdoor unit itself, please move those items until the installation is complete. Remember, even after installation your outdoor unit needs at least three feet of clear space in every direction.

Take Care of Kids and Pets

If you have children and pets, it’s a good idea to make plans for them on the day of the installation. You can either keep them secured in a separate room where they won’t be in the way of the installation, or make plans for them to spend the day with a friend or family member.

If you do decide to keep them home, be sure to have plenty of entertainment and monitor them so that they don’t accidentally make their way out into the space where our team is working. Our goal is to keep you and your family safe throughout the entire installation process.

Stay Home

We also encourage you to take the day off and clear your schedule so that you can be completely available during the installation. While we don’t anticipate needing any specific help from you, there’s always a chance that something could arise and we need your guidance.

We may need to access different areas of your home or have to ask questions about how you want us to lay something out. Even with the best pre-planning, we may still have to make adjustments the day of the installation when things happen and we have to pivot.
